An experienced attorney with over 35 years of legal practice, specializing in criminal defense. Since 1986, he has been the principal of his own law firm – the Law Office of James Kousouros. Previously, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx and as a clerk at the Appellate Division, Third Department.
He earned his JD from California Western School of Law (1985) and his BA from the State University of New York at Oneonta (1982).
He is an active member of several professional associations, including the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York City Bar Association, the Queens County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association. Since 2015, he has served on the Board of Directors of the New York City Bar Association.
In addition to his legal practice, he is actively involved in education and media. He has appeared on RNN News as a legal commentator and has served as a visiting professor on American criminal law.
